1970s toys
I only have a couple of genuine Doctor Who
toys from the 1970s, both of which are in pretty poor
condition.
1975 Talking Dalek (Palitoy) left
This was my first ever Dalek toy. I bought
it from a school jumble sale in 1986. It cost me 50 pence and I
was so thrilled! At the time it still spoke - with two
batteries it would shout out “Attack! Attack!
Attack!”, “What Are Your Orders?” and of
course “Exterminate! Exterminate!”. It has since
lost its voice.
1977/79 Cyberman (Denys Fisher) right
When I first got hold of this one, he still
had some of the rubber tubing on the arms and legs, but they
got lost at some point. It’s his original suit, but
it’s in bad shape. At some point, I undressed him and
painted his body silver. It looked daft.
