10th December 2005 Leicester
The Doctor Who - Up Close exhibition at Leicester’s National Space
Centre was a good visit, despite it being only small. It was
great to see props and costumes from Series One, as well as a new
generation of Dalek loving kids firing questions at the Dalek
Builders’ Guild invading Daleks!
It was nice to see The Doctor and
Rose’s real costumes as well as a real Slitheen costume,
Moxx of Balhoon and the impressive model of the damaged Big Ben
clock tower. However my obvious personal highlights were of
course, Dalek related. It was a nice surprise to get up close
to the Emperor Dalek model, although I thought it might have
been bigger, but even so, it was impressive. And it was good to
see one of the new Daleks, although they look a lot more
plastic in reality than they do on telly, but hey, that’s
Doctor Who props for you!
All in all, a good exhibition, and a thrill
to get up close to several major items from Series One.
Over the next two pages, you’ll find
a selection of photographs I took at Doctor Who - Up Close, in
Leicester.
